Jan 16-Sunday Learn to Ski & Ride @ Mad River Mtn

01/16/2022 09:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET

Description

This year, we will be staggering our start times for lessons and limiting the number of volunteers per lesson. Registration will close the Tuesday prior to the event on Sunday and all lesson assignments and details will be emailed on Friday. This means that you will be assigned a start time and volunteer team ahead of time and are asked to only arrive for your scheduled session. Because of these restrictions, we are unable to provide buddy lessons. Buddy tickets will still be available and buddys will still be allowed to join a lesson, but only if their skiing ability is equal to or greater than the participant with a disability. In order to keep our numbers low, no extra volunteers will be available to provide lessons to buddys. . Please review our full list of COVID precautions below.

ASC will be opening registration in waves this year. Each wave will consist of only a few weeks at a time. This is an effort to give all interested participants the opportunity to register for an event this winter. When a date is filled, further interested individuals will be instructed to email info@adaptivesportsconnection.org asking to be placed on the waitlist for a particular date. ASC staff will monitor participation numbers and will fill any gaps from this list first. Additionally, individuals on the waitlist will be contacted 24 hours prior to the general public with an opportunity to register for the next wave of sessions.

Registration will close on Tuesday evening at 8:00pm prior to the event day for participants and volunteers, as opposed to closing Friday afternoon like in previous years. This allows time for staff to administer pre-screen calls, assign lessons, and communicate with all registered individuals.

COVID-19 How to Stay Safe and Enjoy skiing and boarding

We will be taking a number of precautions to protect the safety of our volunteers and participants in this program including:

  1. All participants and volunteers will be required to register and pay online and will be encouraged to print and bring their signed waiver with them.
  2. Registration for participants and volunteers will open only 2 weeks at a time and will close 5 days prior to the event. A waiting list will be maintained for anyone who was not able to register due to lower capacity. The waiting list will be used to fill any vacancies that arise and will receive the first opportunity to register for the next 2 weeks of lessons.
  3. All registered participants must take a screening phone call (no more than 10 minutes) from ASC staff on Wednesday or Thursday prior to their lesson. Failure to complete this call will result in cancellation of your registration.
  4. All registered volunteers must complete an online COVID questionnaire Wednesday or Thursday prior to their Saturday lesson. Failure to complete this questionnaire will result in the cancellation of your registration.
  5. Everyone will be required to wear masks or face coverings indoors at all times on ski resort property.
  6. Increased gear cleaning protocols. All gear and equipment will be sanitized and/or disinfected after each use.
  7. Lesson start times will be staggered and no more than 4 lessons will run at one time.
  8. Participants may only register for 1 lesson per day. No full day lessons will be offered.
  9. As few volunteers as is safe will be assigned to each lesson.
  10. Anyone who feels sick is asked to stay home and will be provided a full refund. Lessons can be cancelled by emailing info@adaptivesportsconnetion.org or leaving a message at 614.389.3921. No show/no call lessons will not be refunded and may be barred from future participation.
  11. Everyone will be asked to sanitize their hands frequently. Hand sanitizer will be available.
  12. Participants and volunteers are asked to arrive “ski ready”. Everyone should fully dress and boot up in their cars to minimize time indoors. Access to indoor areas will be severely restricted, with maximum occupancy numbers posted.
  13. ASC will continue to evaluate the operations plan and adjust as necessary
